Why Join Southeast NATO?
NATO is the leading motion picture theatre trade
association in the world with membership that
includes the largest circuits around the world and
hundreds of independent theatre owners. As such
NATO represents exhibitors interests in industry
issues and helps exhibition influence federal
policy-making and legislation.
So with NATO at the helm why do you need a regional/state association?
Over the last few years there has been a shift of power from the federal to the state and local levels resulting in a marked increase in government relations activities on both these levels. This has made it vitally important to closely monitor and lobby state and local governments.
Every day in the state capitols we are addressing such issues as admissions taxes, amusements taxes, film rental taxes, sales and use tax, syrup tax, minimum wage, harmful to minors content, ADA, ratings enforcement and a host of others. Many of these issues also appear on local city council agendas.
While the regional association serves as a liaison and works closely with NATO there is a need for a strong, unified regional voice regarding these state and local legislative issues.
Through legislative alerts, bulletins and websites the regional unit keeps membership fully informed on all of these important legislative issues and will spearhead state or local campaigns when necessary. Local exhibitors carry great weight with their government representatives but together they can go even farther in promoting and protecting exhibitions interests.
Along with legislative representation, a regional unit through its annual conventions and meetings provides its members with a forum for educational and networking opportunities to allow members to gain more insight on industry-related topics.
Please join us as we work together on behalf of exhibitors in your region. You can make a difference!
